**English in action - A course for spanish-speaking - Book 1**: English Action is an English course for students specialising in commerce and will be of particular value to students beginning their fourth year at secondary school.
The introductory section provides the teacher with revision work and sets the standard for the book. The book itself is divided into twenty-five Units with a revision lesson and a test after every five. The Units introduce new lexical and grammatical items; the revision lessons link together the material learned, which can then be tested. New vocabulary is listed on each page along with its phonetic transcript and stress. Special attention is paid to the linguistic problems of Spanish speakers.
Although the course is concerned with teaching the skills and terminology required by a commercial student it is based on the assumption that the acquisition of primary linguistic skills must be the basis of such a book. In this way, the student is provided with a fundamental knowledge of commercial techniques. Amongst the topics covered are economic and commercial practice, business letters and documents.
