Eleventh Edition - Thirtieth Impression - This standard work has been completely revised, enlarged, brought up to date, and reset for thes edition in everyman`s Reference Library. Professor Daniel Jones has incorporated about 1,350 new words (as well as 630 odd in the supplement to the last edition) and many new pronunciations have been added and a number of other improvements of various kinds have been made. The Dictionary now gives the pronunciation in the International Phonetic Association symbols of over 58,000 words, which includes some 14,600 proper names but does not include the inflected forms which number many thousands. The important section of the Introducition dealing with Phonetic Transciption has been rewritten and a completely new feature is a glossary of technical phonetic terms used in the Introduction and Explanations.
